Healthy People’s mission and objectives have national and state significance. Most states and national health agencies integrate Healthy People objectives into their strategic planning documents. In addition, much federal funding is aligned with achieving the Healthy People objectives. Healthy People 2010 did not include tobacco cessation health systems change in its mission or objectives. The Collaborative recommends that the HP 2020 mission and objectives include health systems change, and agreed to pursue several tobacco-related objectives that cover major components of health systems change. The following five objectives will be submitted to HP 2020 on behalf of the Collaborative.
