Members include: Teresa Brown, New Hampshire (task group leader) Mary Aquilino, Iowa Esther Baker, Iowa Diane Bartscherer, New York Denise Jolicoeur, Massachusetts Karyn Madore, New Hampshire Ellen Prior, New Hampshire Julie Zaykoski, New York Task Group Description: Research shows that clinicians do not consistently adhere to the PHS Guideline and feel inadequately prepared to intervene with patients who smoke. Significant barriers interfere with clinician assessment and treatment of tobacco use, including lack of knowledge about effective interventions and pharmacotherapy, inadequate organizational supports, low or no reimbursement, and limited training. The Clinician Education task group identified three areas for future action.
